Happy 4th of July everyone! Here we are smack dab in the middle of summer already. Where does the time go? It has been a great week of fishing! Lots of nice walleyes have been found! Island Paradise
Ahhh…floating around enjoying the island scenery and reeling in walleyes. This is what summer is all about!
This week their has been an active walleye bite. Some of the best areas continue be along the shallow shorelines jigging with jig tipped with a leech or a minnow. Most of the walleyes caught lately have been 15+ inches in size. Pike and bass fishing have been good in the nearby bays just 4-5 miles away from the lodge. Casting for pike and bass with spoons that have a shine to them seem to be doing best. A few muskies have been found but we are looking to warmer temperatures before we really see this guys start to snap.

Hot Walleye Action!
It has been a great week of fishing here on Lake of the Woods. Fishing the sandbars with hammered gold and chartreuse spinners tipped with a minnow or a leech has been working excellent. Shallow and deep depths have both been working well 11’-16’ and 26’-32’. Water temperature has been between 65-68 degrees this week. Lots and lots of slot fish have been caught and released along with plenty for a limit to take home or fry up for a fish fry. The week started off with some showers but the rest of the week looks beautiful. Time for some summer fun!

4th of July Celebration is just around the corner!

The Baudette Chamber of Commerce and local businesses will be hosting lots of event in town on Saturday. One of the biggest celebrations of the year will be held in Baudette, on July 4. Drifting with gold or bright orange jigs or spinners tipped with a minnow has been doing best for catching walleyes. Areas with a good bite have been Little Oak Island and Tug Channel in 20-25 feet of water. Walleyes have been found on rocks eating crawfish or in mud eating hatches. Some nice pike are also being found in 22’-28’ of water using flashy spoons and shad raps.
Muskie fishing on the Ontario side opens this Saturday!
Lake of the Woods is an awesome lake to find huge muskies and the Ontario side has some of the best spots just a hop, skip and a jump away from us. Green cabbage weeds are going to be great places to start in between small islands and weedy bays. Flashy crank baits and buck tails are great for the stained Lake of the Woods waters. Get ready to do some casting the season is about to start! Guides available!

Green and gold spinners tipped with a minnow are hot, hot, hot! Check out these pictures! Anchored and jigging in the northern reefs in 20’-25’ and in 17’-27’ outside of Lighthouse Gap and Zippel Bay has been working well. Some anglers are also finding success drifting and using leeches. Most walleyes caught have been in the 14”-18” and 25”-29” range. The weather is beautiful; the fish are biting, perfect days to be out in the boat!

Lots of sun this week!
After a few wild storms this past weekend the weather is shaping up. It looks like we will be enjoying plenty of sun!
The best walleye bite has been up on the edges of the reefs in 22’-27’ of water in the northern areas of Big Traverse and areas outside Pine Island and Zippel Bay in 23’-27’ jigging gold or pink spinners tipped with a leech or minnow. Crawlers should start hitting soon as well. June is known for excellent month for bait fishing walleyes on the south shore. The weather is going to heat up this week, so look for the walleyes to move deep. A little wind will help. A light walleye chop is always helpful in a successful day. The water temperature is warming up. We have warmed up 5 degrees this week, currently sitting at 64 degrees
