Good fishing rolls on!

by

We are seeing limits of fish hauled in every day.  Spinner fishing has produced well as of late today. Hammered gold spinners with crawlers seem to be working the best.  Anywhere from 15’-30’ has been doing well.  Don’t be afraid to be mobile! Keep moving until you find fish.

Trolling raps along Pine Island has been gaining momentum as of late.  Mornings and evenings still seem to be the better productive times for this bite but there are walleyes there.

The mud flat troll has been producing a lot of good sized walleyes.  It is that classic time of year where fish push to these flats for food and are targetable. Lead core works well to target these fish.  Fire tiger and white plugs have been working very well.

Great walleye and solid muskie fishing

by

Island life is just chugging along!  Great walleye and solid muskie fishing.  Walleyes are snapping as usual.  Jigging and spinners have been catching fish.  Jigging the reefs anywhere from 24’-30’ and spinners anywhere from 12’-20’.  Tipping minnows on jigs continues to out produce any other bait just as crawlers has by far out done anything on spinners.  The muskies are ramping up as summer chugs along.  Many fish in the high 40s to low 50s are being caught every day!  Get up here and get in on the action!

Dawg Days of Summer

by

The dog days of summer are upon us. Water temps rising into the low 70s are pushing fish deeper. Pulling and drifting spinners will still catch nice fish, but you will have to look deeper.  15’-30’ hammered gold with a crawler.

The jig bite is catching fish in 32’.  Pink gold and chartreuse jigs tipped with a frozen shiner have worked the best.  This bite is all over the south shore so keep moving to find fish.

The deep water trolling bite is hot and heavy right now.  28’-33’ has been very good.  Cover water until you find a school of fish. Light colored plugs have been producing well.

Walleyes are biting well on the reefs

by

The island life just rolls on.  Walleyes are biting well on the reefs.  A variety of jigs and spinners are being used to target them. When jigging go with either gold or pink jigs with a minnow.  If spinner fishing is more your style however, hammered gold with a crawler or a minnow.  With the hot temperatures, the fish are moving to their classic mid-summer locations.  Large rock structures are likely to hold good numbers of walleyes.  Good luck and we will see you out there!

It’s Getting Hot In Here!

by

South Shore:  Another week flew by and fishing continues to be good!  Storms earlier in the week stirred up fishing and made the fish slightly lethargic but it was only a matter of a day or two until they were back to their regular snappin’ selves!  The spinner bite is still going very well.  Hammered gold with a crawler is the way to go.  Concentrate your efforts in the 8’-20’ range.  The jig bite is still holding strong as well.  Go deep.  30’-32’.  Pink jigs with a shiner or a leech.

The troll bite is on.  6’-12’ along pine is holding fish.  Trolling raps at 2.5-3mph has been good.  Also trolling the depths is producing fish as well.  28’-32’ is holding scattered fish that will chase a plug.  2.2-3.2 mph has been working out in the depths.  Looking forward to another hot week on the big pond!

Island fishing just keeps rolling on as good as ever

by

Fish are being found in variety of places and are being caught a variety of ways.  Jigging rock structures and shorelines has been putting fish in the coolers.  Chartreuse and pink jigs tipped with a minnow.  Spinners are producing as well! You can’t go wrong with hammered gold.  There are fish on the shorelines and points as well as the humps and reefs.

As well as walleyes fishing, muskie fishing is getting very good.  When targeting these toothy giants, look for the classic spots.  Rocky points and weedy bays while burning buck tails will move the most fish!  Good luck and we will see you out there!

Heating Up!

by

Rolling into mid-July with water temps still hanging around that 70 degree mark, the walleyes are still hanging shallow.  With the unseasonably cool June that we experienced, walleyes still haven’t pushed way out and are holding on structures. This means that drifting spinners and jigging are great way to target these walleyes!  The spinner bite is rolling on and actually seeming to get better as we move through July.  Hammered gold and white spinners tipped with a crawler seem to be producing the best.  Concentrate on areas of 9’-17’, and make sure that you keep moving.  .8 to 1 mph is a great speed to catch the attention of a hungry walleye.

Jigging is still catching fish as well.  Gold and pink jigs tipped with either a leech or a minnow.  These walleyes are slowing making their way deeper so if you are headed out jigging get out into that 30’-32’ range.

As summer gets hotter so will that classic trolling bite.  28’-32’ trolling cranks will continue to get better.  Cover ground at about 2.5mph you will find the fish or give us a call, we have guides available! No equipment necessary and groups of 1+ welcome!

The July bite is heating up!

by

Walleyes
Waters are beginning to clear up in the islands and fishing is improving as well. With the mayfly hatch, the windblown shorelines will be holding fish as well as the mud adjacent to rock reefs and structures. Jigging around these structures is still producing good fish. Pink, gold and chartreuse have all produced. Drifting spinners has been very good. Hammered gold and orange have been the go to colors. There has been no front runner in bait choice; crawlers and leeches both will produce.

Muskies
The muskie bite is heating up! A fast moving bucktail at shallow weed beds and rock points and structures is working well.  Cover water and contact as many fish as possible! Check out this whopper!

Jigs, Spinners, Crankbaits….lots of options

by

The weather has begun to become normal again after the last few weeks and the fish are getting hungry again! The may fly hatch is in full swing but it hasn’t seemed to slow the walleyes down. A good jig bite has continued into July. 31’ seems to be the magic number out in the mud. Pink has been by far the best color. Tipping your jig with a shiner will produce but try tipping with a leech if the bite slows.

fishing6

The spinner bite continues to produce great numbers of walleyes. 7’-14’ has been the best depths. A hammered gold spinner with a crawler has far outdone any other color or bait as of late!

A great trolling bite is beginning to show itself as well. In the mornings and evenings up shallows has good numbers of active walleyes. 6’-12’ with crankbaits, trolling anywhere from 2.2 mph to 3.5 mph. During the day, 30’-32’ is holding great numbers of walleyes. Cover water and you should run into some good fish!
