Within the last week, we’ve now moved into more of the controlled depth fishing.  Find your way to the shallow rocks and you shall find some good-size walleye.  Preferred colors of Shad Raps are blue and silver or orange and gold.  Wally Divers are getting the job done as well.  Drifting with spinners is still producing as well.  Find your way to the 16’-25’ depth, tip your hammered gold spinners with minnows or leeches and the walleye will come biting!!

The water continues to ebb and to flow.  We received another 5+” of rain this last week so we are still continuing to use our centralized loading/unloading system for our charter boats.  Some of our boat slips are available for use at this time.  Call our front desk at 1-800-862-8602 to find out what’s available as they are on a reserved-basis only.  However, because of the fluctuating water, electricity is not available at this time.  The weather forecast is looking great for next week as it says temps in the high-70’s to low 80’s, light wind and sun.

High and Low, Drift and Go

Water levels may be up and down, but walleye fishing remains constant. Drifting and using spinners was the method of choice over the last week. Make your way to 22’-28’ of water near Long Point or Zippel Bay or 12’-18’ of water near Morris Point to Pine Island. Don’t forget about trolling in the shallow waters of 10’ or less as walleyes have been found there as well. Make sure you have plenty of jigs and spinners. Hammered gold is still the hot color, tip it with crawlers or leeches and you will be ready to go… We have also started with controlled depth fishing using Shad Raps within the last week as well.The water continues to rise and to fall. So many fish…so little time…

There’s good fishing to be had.  Find your way around Pine Island, drift with hammered gold spinners with leeches, crawlers or minnows in 8’-16’ water and the walleyes will be there.  There’s also good jig fishing in 10’-14’ water so don’t forget to set your course for that as well.  Sunny skies and temps in the mid-70’s are in the forecast as well so that always makes fishing brighter.  Due to the high water, we are still using our centralized loading/unloading system so that our guests remain safe and their feet remain dry.  Call our front desk at 1-800-862-8602 to find out what’s available for our boat slips as they are on a reserved-basis only.  However, because of the high water, electricity is not available at this time.

High Water
Our docks continue to be pretty wet at this time due to the high water however we have made changes to keep business as usual.  A floating dock has been installed for safe loading and unloading on to the charter boats. The only service that is not available at this time is dock slip rentals however,  we expect to see open back up in a week or two. If you are traveling to us from the east, on Hwy 11 near International Falls is back open at this time, but check www.511mn.org for up to date information.
