It’s starting to look like winter here!

by

It has been a cool week and it doesn’t look like that is going to change. We have a few inches of snow on the ground and some ice starting to form on the small bays too. Will it be an early ice season this year? Could be!  Bring on the freezing season!

One Last Splash
If you are looking to make it out in the boat one more time, the fish are biting! The best bite has been outside of Pine Island and Graceton Beach in a wide range of depths 6’-28’ as well as points in the River near Wheeler’s Point, 4 Mile Bay, Baudette Airport area and Clementson. Deep holes and creek beds are good places to fish using a jig and a shiner minnow. Anchor up and start jigging. Gold, orange and glow in the dark colors have all been good lately.  Our guides have hung up their hats for the season but lodging and docking is available.  We have great fall rates starting at $42 per person per night and weekly cabin rentals starting at $518 per week through November. *Plus tax. Per person rate based on double occupancy. Limited amenities available at the lodge. Contact us today!

Looking for some peace and quiet or thousands of acres of public hunting land?
November is a great month to relax in the cabin, do some hunting, gather with friends and even get in a few last days of soft water fishing. If you are looking to get away, check us out. Fall Fishing is on Fire

by

Walleyes are piling into the river and are putting on the feed bags. Orange, yellow, gold and pink have all been great jig colors in the river. 16’-20’ has been the best depth. The best areas to look are areas where bait is going to school up. Deep holes and creek mouths are good areas to look for when looking for places to fish. Anchor up and jig vertical. 1/2 to 3/4 ounce jigs have been the usual weight this year.

On the lake, out in front of the gap has been very good. 10’-22’ has been holding good numbers of quality fish. The typical jig and a shiner method is the best way to go. Gold, orange, pink, and yellow are all good colors. Also the fish have been holding to the rock piles up and down Long Point. Anchor just adjacent to these structures and vertical jig. There isn’t much time before the water turns harder so get up here and get out on the water! Good luck!

Still Snappin’

The walleyes are going crazy right now.  With the shiner run in full swing walleye are pushing into the shores, the gap, and the river!  Outside the gap, anywhere from 20’-29’ is hot.  Jig tipped with a shiner is your best way to target them.  Anchor and jig vertically seems to put more fish in the cooler than drifting and jigging.  Good colors are gold, pink, orange, chartreuse and white are all good colors.

10-18w

In the river the fish are going very well too.  Walleyes and saugers are pushing farther up river chasing the shiners and they are putting on the feed bags.  Good areas to target in the river are four mile bay and deep holes in the river.  The edges of these deep holes are good areas to set up and jig in about 18’-23’.

The temps keep dropping but the fishing continues to be hot in the islands

Try a jig and shiner around areas where bait gathers, such as current areas and deep holes will hold a lot of fish this time of year.  15’-22’ is a great depth to start looking.  Crappies and perch will also be hanging in these areas as well.  Get out there and good luck!

The Race Is On

by

Shiner run is in full swing.  Traps and nets are filling up every night and the walleyes are right on their tail!  The river is getting better and better every day.   Outside the gap is still dynamite.  Great reports coming anywhere from 16’-30’.  Pink, white, gold and chartreuse are all working.  Obviously since the shiner run is so strong right now, tipping jigs with a shiner is going to be your best bet.  Anchoring and staying vertical seems to a better way to target these walleyes other than drifting and moving.  Water temperature is currently 53 degrees and dropping nearly a degree a day.

10-11w

In the river, break lines and holes are the best areas to look for schools of fish.  Anchor on or adjacent to these areas.  Jig and shiner again is the best way to get these fish to bite!  Four mile bay is very good as well.  12’-20’ is the best depth.  Trolling plugs in the river has been good as well.  Troll just fast enough to get keep those plugs moving.

The guides are ready to take you out! Guided trips available through late October.

Fall fishing is in full swing!

Walleyes, perch, crappies and Muskie are all going great! Walleyes are schooled up anywhere there is bait. Saddles, deep holes, current areas, and large structures are all good. Crappies and perch will also be on these structures. These guys will be more school in small areas so if you catch one there is probably more there!

Fishing is still slammin’!

by

A great jigging bite is going on the big lake. Anywhere from 16′-30′ has been producing great numbers of walleyes, saugers, and even some perch. Pink, gold, chartreuse, and orange tipped with a shiner have all been working great. If you aren’t on fish, move! One day fish are in 21′ and the next they are in 30′! There are fish out there, you just have to find them!

In the river and in four mile bay fish are in full chase of the shiners. All the traditional spots are holding fish and more are showing up every day! Trolling plugs in the river has been generating some great fish! Gold and pink seem to be the best river colors!

Walleyes & Crappies are hungry

by

Island fishing is still hot even if the temps are not.  Great numbers of walleyes and crappies are coming in every day.  The walleyes are getting to those classic fall areas that hold bait.  Saddles between islands that have some current are great areas this time of year.  Also big rock points with deep holes adjacent are good for both walleyes are crappies.  Keep moving until you find fish because almost always this time of year they are schooled up and hungry!!

Check out this whopper!
