Today is the day!! Ice fishing has begun at Sportsman’s!
We have 8-12 inches of ice in the area we fish and travel, 5’-6’ of water clarity and while pre-fishing yesterday the guides found an active bite with a mix of walleye, saugers including this monster 52 inch surprise sturgeon caught by Guide Eric Best!!! You never know what you might catch on Lake of the Woods! We received a 3-4 inches of snow yesterday. That is about all we have total in the area right now. Lots of bare ice on the lake, be sure to bring ice cleats! It’s a little slick. The guides are ready to take you out. Give us a call 800-862-8602 openings are available!

Our sister resort, Sportsman’s Oak Island Lodge on Oak Island up at the Northwest Angle is opening December 12 for the season. Currently 5-12 inches of ice reported where they fish and travel. No sleepers out yet. But the forecast is looking favorable. We are looking at Dec 13 to start. It won’t be long!

Plowed Ice Roads
Adrian’s Road at Four Mile Bay and Morris Point’s roads at Morris Point is open to ATV’s, Side by Sides and snowmobiles. Be sure to stay on marked trails and ask about local conditions before heading out. The entire lake never freezes equally. No travel is advised on the Rainy River. Stay safe and have fun!
