Winter Ice Fishing just around the corner
It won’t be long and we will be back on the hard water enjoying once again the tradition of ice fishing. Ice fishing has changed a lot over the years, it used to be a fishing rod, chisel, a bucket to sit on and a bucket of minnows. Normally you could only stand to be out for a few hours or so. Now people practically pull out motorhomes on the ice to enjoy this sport in style, some even staying over night on the frozen tundras.
Sportsman’s Lodge located on the very top of Minnesota on Lake of the Woods offers ice fishing services that can’t be beat. You don’t even need a snow suit. Enjoy a hot breakfast in their lodge and then grab a warm coat, boots, hat, a few snacks and beverages and your set! Sportsman’s cruises you out to the heated shack in a track vehicle, warm and cozy. You then arrive at the shack where the heat is on, holes are drilled, poles, tackle and minnows are waiting! Now that is what I call ice fishing. The guides are very helpful and stop back a few times throughout the day to give tips and see how the days walleye bite is for the day. Sportsman’s doesn’t miss a beat, a hot noon lunch is provided and delivered right to your house. Wow! A great time to spend with family, friends or business associates. After the day is done, the track vehicles transport you back to the lodge for dinner and live entertainment. They even clean your fish and deliver them right to your room. Sounds like a excellent way to spend a long weekend.
