The Bite
Lots of fluctuations in the temperature gauge this week. -40+ to +18.
Anglers are catching some fish but the bite has certainly been spotty lately. We are looking forward to a more stable weather pattern which should help in the next few days. Houses are staggered off a nice groomed trail about a 30-45 minute ride out on Big Traverse Bay. Anglers are reeling in a variety of sizes of fish using gold, pink and orange macho minnows, plain hooks, buck shots, glow spoons and jigs. Tackle is tipped with a minnow or minnow head in 26’-32’ of water. Lots of suspended fish are being seen on electronics so if you have one, we encourage you to bring it along or call ahead to rent so you can get a chance at reeling in those fish.

Ice Conditions
Currently we have 30-32 inches of ice in the areas we fish and travel. We run a groomed trail to our houses. If you are looking to venture out on your own, Adrian’s road at Wheeler’s Point is recommended.

Trail Conditions
Area lake and land trails are being groomed weekly. Trails are in good shape! For more information about the trails and latest on the land trails, check out Lake of the Wood’s Drifters and the Northwest Angle Edge RidersFacebook pages.

The Latest Bite
The bite has been finicky this week but should only get better as temps even out. Bigger tackle is working best right now which is usually not the case when the bite gets finicky. Jigging 1/2 ounce white and red jigs and spoons tipped with 1/2 a minnow and dead sticking a plain hook tipped with a 1/2 or full minnow has brought up some nice walleyes. Also seeing several suspended fish 5-6’ off bottom. Best way to lure these fish is to use electronics. Start on the bottom, watch the electronics and reel up when you see one to get their attention. Anglers have been having good luck in 23’-29’ on and off the reefs. A mix of walleyes, saugers along with a few perch and pike coming up the holes lately.

Ice Conditions
Currently we have 20-28 inches of ice in the areas we fish and travel. We run a groomed trail to our houses.

Trail Conditions
The trails are in good shape. Grooming is in progress. For more information about the trails and latest on the land trails, check out Lake of the Wood’s Drifters and the Northwest Angle Edge Riders Facebook pages.
