Reeling in the walleyes
Sunshine is in the forecast!  The wind and rain has been pushing through this week, but the rest of the week looks beautiful! The forecast is calling for highs in the 70’s and 80’s and lots of sunshine. It should be a nice week to get out fishing.

Latest Bite
The best bite has been found drifting using spinners or jigs tipped with a minnow in 24’-28’ of water outside Long Point and Zippel Bay.  Anglers have also been finding a nice bite further north around Garden and Knight Island in 28’-32’ of water trolling with shad raps.  Gold and pink have been hot spinner and jig colors.  Red, white and gold have been hot for the shad raps.

Girls Gone Fishing!
Check out the pics! These ladies enjoyed a great day on the lake this week. A mix of bait fishing using gold and pink spinners tipped with minnows and crawlers while drifting as well as trolling with shad raps have been the best approach this week. We expect this to be the best technique for the next month or so until the water starts to cool and the fish start coming in shallower. The best depth right now has been 26’-32’ of water near Garden Island and Little Oak Island.  Don’t let summer pass you by, make some time to get out on the water!

Hot Summer Fishing
The weather is hot and so is the fishing!  Bait fishing using hammered gold or orange spinners tipped with a crawler or 3/8 oz. gold jigs tipped with a minnow has been the best approach.  Some anglers are also finding success pulling shad raps as well. Eighteen to twenty-two feet and twenty-eight to thirty-two feet outside of Pine Island, Little Oak Island and Garden Island are producing some nice fish. A nice variety of 14”-18” and 25”-30” walleyes have been found this week.

Island Fish Fry
Fishing continues to be very good and there is nothing better than enjoying authentic island fish fry midday during a day of fishing. Ask about booking a shore lunch when you book your next trip.  Our guides prepare the fish and all of the fixings while you take in the beautiful scenery of the area. This is definately an experience you won’t want to miss.

Fall is around the corner

We are roughly 8 weeks out from the legendary “Emerald Shiner Run” which normally occurs in late September and early October on the Rainy River and Four Mile Bay. This event normally brings in thousands of walleyes to the Rainy River as they chase the shiners upstream.  Get your reservations in now and take advantage of lodging as low as $40 per person lodging.

Sweet Summer Time!

by

The sweetness of the summer air, sparkling waters, blue skies, good fishing and great memories is happening now.

The Scoop
Lots of active bait fishing has been going on this week. Drifting using hammered gold or pink spinners tipped with a crawler or a minnow has been bringing in lots of nice walleyes in 14’-18’ and 28’-32’ of water just outside of Pine Island, Graceton Beach and Garden Island. Another decent bite has been found trolling with crank baits in 30’-32’ of water in areas around Garden and Knight Islands. Nice size 14”-22” and 27”-30” walleyes have been found.

100% Walleye Limit Guarantee!
We are guaranteeing you will leave or eat your limit of walleyes if you fish on one of our guide boats for two days or better or we will pay you $10 per fish short! Fish eaten during your stay count towards your limit. Don’t miss out; click here to book your trip today.

Life is better when I am fishing!
Isn’t that the truth! Nothing is better in my mind than a holding a rod on a beautiful day. Right now the weather is great and the bite is pretty darn good too. We still have openings for soft water fishing now through late October. Give us a call. Lodging, all-inclusive fishing packages, camping, boat slips and boat rentals are available.

The bite……
The best walleye action has been in 10’-18’ and 29’-36’. We are starting to use a little bit of controlled depth fishing but the best bite has been jigging using spinners tipped with a minnow or crawler this week. Some of the best fishing has been just outside of Graceton Beach, Zippel Bay and Garden Island.

Water is heating up, Weather is Beautiful & the Fishing is Excellent!
Northern areas of Big Traverse around Knight and Garden Island and southern areas of Little Traverse have been hot this week. Gold or pink jigs or spinners tipped with a leech, crawler or minnow have been working well. Bring a few bait options with you. The may flies hatched this week and have really pumped the walleye catch rate up. Water temperature is currently 74 degrees. Anglers are having the most success bait fishing but it won’t be long and controlled depth fishing will start.
