Weekly Oak Island Fishing Report
Walleyes Are Holding Deep
The walleyes are snapping in the islands. Walleyes are holding to deeper rock structures. Drifting spinners over the tops of these rocks or jigging down the edges will produce walleyes.
The muskies are really ramping up as we head into the later parts of August. Fast moving buck tails and twitch baits have been looking good to these tooth giants as of late! Good luck and we will see you out there!
Jig and a minnow
The great fishing in the island continues! Walleyes are still being caught on jigs. Gold, pink, and chartreuse jigs with a minnow. You can pull spinners on the reefs and catch fish as well!
Muskie fishing is still going well! They are beginning to move out to the large structures. Get to the islands and start throwing baits!
Summer’s Last Blast!
Reel the big one. Late summer and fall trips available. Give us a call 800-862-8602.
Fishing is outstanding!
Walleyes are snapping on reefs and flats. As far as the flats, pulling spinners with a crawler or leech will get strikes. Hammered gold or pink spinners in 12’-20’ have been working well. If jigging is the way you are going to go, gold, pink and chartreuse have been good on the reefs from 13’-28’ Muskie fishing continues to be good in the cabbage bays! Make sure you don’t miss this great fishing!

Great walleye and solid muskie fishing
Island life is just chugging along! Great walleye and solid muskie fishing. Walleyes are snapping as usual. Jigging and spinners have been catching fish. Jigging the reefs anywhere from 24’-30’ and spinners anywhere from 12’-20’. Tipping minnows on jigs continues to out produce any other bait just as crawlers has by far out done anything on spinners. The muskies are ramping up as summer chugs along. Many fish in the high 40s to low 50s are being caught every day! Get up here and get in on the action!

Walleyes are biting well on the reefs
The island life just rolls on. Walleyes are biting well on the reefs. A variety of jigs and spinners are being used to target them. When jigging go with either gold or pink jigs with a minnow. If spinner fishing is more your style however, hammered gold with a crawler or a minnow. With the hot temperatures, the fish are moving to their classic mid-summer locations. Large rock structures are likely to hold good numbers of walleyes. Good luck and we will see you out there!
Caught right off the dock at the lodge! Andrew from Wabasso, MN 45.5” northern pike. Nice one buddy!

Island fishing just keeps rolling on as good as ever
Fish are being found in variety of places and are being caught a variety of ways. Jigging rock structures and shorelines has been putting fish in the coolers. Chartreuse and pink jigs tipped with a minnow. Spinners are producing as well! You can’t go wrong with hammered gold. There are fish on the shorelines and points as well as the humps and reefs.
As well as walleyes fishing, muskie fishing is getting very good. When targeting these toothy giants, look for the classic spots. Rocky points and weedy bays while burning buck tails will move the most fish! Good luck and we will see you out there!
Captain Travis snuck out and did some muskie fishing with Captain Baihly in the angle and it appears that the trip was a success!

The July bite is heating up!
Walleyes
Waters are beginning to clear up in the islands and fishing is improving as well. With the mayfly hatch, the windblown shorelines will be holding fish as well as the mud adjacent to rock reefs and structures. Jigging around these structures is still producing good fish. Pink, gold and chartreuse have all produced. Drifting spinners has been very good. Hammered gold and orange have been the go to colors. There has been no front runner in bait choice; crawlers and leeches both will produce.
Muskies
The muskie bite is heating up! A fast moving bucktail at shallow weed beds and rock points and structures is working well. Cover water and contact as many fish as possible! Check out this whopper!

Get up to the islands! Fishing has been great!
Windblown shorelines have been holding great numbers of walleyes. Drifting spinners has been the best way tactic. Hammered gold has far out fished the competition. Leeches seem to be the bait of choice but it doesn’t hurt to bring some crawlers along as well. Flag island flats are holding fishing in the cleaner water. It is a large area so be mobile and find the fish!
