Multi Species Central
Walleyes, saugers, perch, pike, smallmouth bass and muskies a plenty. Come try them all.
Water temp is currently in the mid 70’s. Walleyes have been hungry in 24’-30’ of water on rock structures using hammered gold, silver and orange crawler harnesses and crawlers as well as jigs and a minnow.   Some nice smallmouth bass have been found around rock reefs in the islands in 4’-14’ using crankbaits or lipless cranks bounced off bottom with an irregular retrieval. Huge pike have been biting along rocky shorelines and weedy bays throwing out dare devils and bucktails. Some anglers have also been having great luck long casting around humps and deep sand flats while trolling with heavy spoons. Let it sink to the bottom and reel in. Muskie fishing is also heating up. Trolling deep bays, rocky points and weedy bays using bucktails and top water lures have been successful.  Don’t forget a good net! You never know when you might reel in a monster!

We have some openings left here and there this summer and through fall for lodging and guided trips. Click here for availability and rates or call 800-772-8411 and let’s have some fun.

Island Fishing

Beautiful summer week.  Anglers have found an active walleye bite this week.  Captain Evan and his crew reeled in over 70 fish yesterday.  Anglers have been finding a nice size mix of walleye and saugers.  Jigging with a gold, white, pink or green jig tipped with a minnow along shorelines and structure has been working good.  Some have had good luck spinner fishing with a gold spinner and a leech or crawler in 23’-28’in the sand. We had a mayfly hatch last week and water temperature continues to warm up, currently hovering around the 70 degree mark.  Flag Island flats have been a hot spot.

Pike and bass fishing have been good in the nearby bays just 4-5 miles away from the lodge. Casting for pike and bass with spoons that have a shine to them seem to be doing best. A few muskies have been found but the bite should really to start to snap in a week or two.

Spend the 4th of July with us!
We still have a few openings for the week of the 4th of July.  Jerry will be firing up the smoker and cooking up some of his famous brisket on Saturday, July 7. You won’t want to miss that! Give us a call 800-772-8411 these openings won’t last long.

Hungry Walleyes
This past weekend we had some excellent fishing. The walleyes were hungry.  The best spots have been 6’-26’ along the shorelines of Oak Island, Flag Island and south side of Falcon Island this week. Water temperature is about 66 degrees.  Jigging with a 3/8 oz gold jig tipped with a minnow has been hot!

Bass & Pike
Some good smallmouth bass and pike fishing have been had by anglers as well this week. They have found the best results in less than ten feet of water casting with spinner baits in the nearby islands close to the lodge.

Muskie Fishing opens this weekend
Ontario side on Saturday and Minnesota on Sunday!  We have thousands of bays to explore and hunt for this fighter. The guides are getting excited to start the hunt, give us a call and book in your trip, mid July thru October is the best time of the year!

Upcoming weather is looking great!

Better weather and a Better Bite
Wet and windy weather over the weekend made the walleye bite a challenge, but this week has started off much better.

Depths 17’-26’ during the day and 5’-15’ in the evening continues to be good.  Vertical jigging over rocks, points and shorelines using a jig and minnow is working well.  White, gold and black jigs with a green eye have been targeting some nice fish. Come have some fun!

Nice Pike
Shallow bays have been the best spot to find pike.  Flashy spoons and shad raps have been the hot ticket.

Finding a few Bass
Anglers are having the most success finding the bass casting using mallet spinners and shad raps in shallow bays. Average size has been 15”-18”.

A jig and a minnow!
Great fishing this week for walleyes in the sand and along rocky points during the day 17’-26’, 5’-15’ in the evening.

A pink or gold jig and minnow has been the hot ticket. Water level is still low but water temp has risen 6 degrees this week sitting around 65-66.

The countdown in on for muskie opener, June 16 for Ontario and June 17 for Minnesota. If you have never been to the Northwest Angle to muskie, fish. It is a must do! Thousands of excellent muskie hot spots are among us. Guides available.

Check out these pictures of Wyatt. Wyatt and his dad went out fishing Monday evening. It didn’t take long and they came back with a nice dinner to share.

It has been an awesome week of fishing in the islands.

Lots of hungry walleyes snapping at the lines. 3/8 ounce red and gold or white jig tipped with a minnow has been working well.  Some of the best fishing has been found deeper than normal, 23’-26’ around rocky points. Anchored or a slow troll has been working the best. Water temp is around the 60 degree mark right now.

We have had a warm May and it looks like more warm temps headed our way for the weekend.

It’s that time of year! Check us out online and give us a call 800-772-8411. Good luck fishing!

Great Weather & Walleyes
What a great opener, excellent weather and hungry walleyes.  Anglers had no problem some nice walleyes this weekend. Shallow points were hot using a gold or pink jig tipped with a minnow. We are looking forward to a fun summer of fishing.

Pike anglers had great success too using smelt lying on bottom in bays and creeks.   Minnesota opener was this past weekend for walleye and this Saturday, May 19 is Ontario’s opener weekend just a hop, skip and a jump from the lodge.  Most of the ice is gone now.

Gregg took his first run across the lake yesterday. He said it was mostly clear with just a few ice chunks floating around. Water temperature is hovering around 50-53 degrees and the water level is currently low.
